160 years ago today, Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin was published. One of the most influential novels in American history, Uncle Tom’s Cabin helped to solidify antislavery sentiments in the years leading up to the Civil War and made Stowe internationally famous.
This stamp was issued in 2007 as part of the Distinguished Americans series.
